About Governance

All schools have a governing body. This body is made up of representatives of parents, the community, school staff, and the local authority. Faith schools additionally have governors who represent their church/religion.

Governing bodies have responsibility for the general conduct of the school and take the major decisions relating to finance, staffing and the curriculum. They have responsibility for ensuring high standards within the school, and ensuring all children achieve and make good progress.
